For many grade 8 children, the last months before the summer holidays are the highlight of their primary school days. The memory of the group 8 school camp is a lasting one for everyone. Unfortunately, this camp could not take place for many schools because of the corona virus. However, primary school de Borne managed to arrange a suitable alternative. Together with ibis Tilburg, they joined forces to give unit 4, the children of group 7 and 8, "a farewell in style". 

One night in a hotel

Not on school camp like every year, but an overnight stay at ibis Tilburg. That surprise awaited unit 4 of primary school de Borne on Thursday 2 July. When hotel manager Bram Kuijpers, learned that unit 4 of his old school could not go on camp, Norman de Langen, acting headmaster of primary school de Borne, was immediately contacted. "We try to give our guests a lasting memory," says Bram Kuijpers. "That lasting memory of Unit 4 should be the school camp and musical for every child. That was now not possible for the neighbourhood children of the Borne due to corona. We are happy that we were able to offer them an alternative by organising a pyjama party at ibis Tilburg. We are immensely proud and happy to have a full hotel again, but with children." 

Locally connected

Organising such an activity in the hotel is something that suits the hotel well. Bram: "ibis does not only function as a place for hotel guests. We are also there for the people of Tilburg and the Blaak. Many an association is therefore at home at ibis Tilburg. We believe in local partnerships and helping each other further. For example, in April we organised a drive-thru foodtruck festival to help people from the events industry and we are now busy with the BBQ Terrace in which collaborations are sought to support local entrepreneurs." 

A memory for life

Norman: "We are lucky that ibis and ibis' hotel manager Bram Kuijpers have been so involved. Bram and I are both active in the Blaak and the KVW. Together we were able to make this a reality for our children. The lasting memory of ibis will be there for them forever. It was really super to be able to experience this." An experience our children will never forget.
